My friends,

I've been taking long walks at night. Back streets, alleys, commercial lanes, or any other place where I'm unlikely to run into groups of people. It's lonely, and it's strange, but there's also some comfort in my world growing smaller by the day. I don't go much further than the few blocks from my apartment. It's not safe to do that anymore, or so I've been told. I don't know for sure, I stopped reading the news weeks ago. It doesn't help to know the extent of everything anymore.

In the meantime, my dreams get more expansive every night. I wake up exhausted sometimes, even after 9 or 10 hours of sleep. I go to places that I can't remember when my eyes open, but they are expansive and wild. I know that for certain. My love often notices me falling into a dreamlike state when I am awake, drifting into space from my chair. We're both afraid of the uncertainty, and the world we'll find ourselves in when this is over, and I'm sure that's something you're all feeling too. For now though, all we can do is make the best of what we have at hand. I'm lucky - I have someone with me to go through this with, but I have a lot of friends who are experiencing this on their own. I wrote this song as a soothing balm for the two of us, but I hope you find some comfort in it if you're alone right now.
